Here are some of the answers to questions we hear asked frequently about coACHING.

FAQs

We like to think of coaches as guides to progress. A coach is there to support you, educate you, and help you pave and navigate your journey of progress and development as an athlete. A coach is there to provide you with expert knowledge garnered through experience and education and apply it to your training to help you excel.

DO I NEED A COACH?

DO I NEED TO BE EXPERIENCED TO COMPETE?

Not at all! On a regional level any member of a federation can compete provided they enter a competition through the proper channels and follow the federation guidelines surrounding joining. On a national level lifters must achieve a qualifying total in order to compete. There is no requirement in terms of experience when it comes to competing!

DO I NEED TO COMPETE?

Nope - at Unified Strength Methods we coach people of all backgrounds with varying goals, from international level powerlifters to those who are entirely new to the sport. You can still benefit from coaching if you don't plan on competing.

DO I NEED ACCESS TO SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT?

In an ideal world everybody would have access to all the equipment they could ever want. However, with the guidance of a coach, you can easily work around whatever equipment you have available to you. A bar, plates, and a rack are what we'd consider the minimum but we've designed programs at times where people have had access to far less!

DO I NEED TO BE BASED IN THE UK?

No, in fact, we currently coach athletes from 3 different continents! A great part of how we work is that coaches can contact their athletes and give all services they provide remotely. Our online system means both coach and athlete have access to the program and other online athlete only content and services.
